Don Lorang
I was born in Montana and spent the majority of my life in the ranch business. My wife Jo and I retired in 2015 and I now enjoy painting full-time. I didn’t take art in college as my father didn’t think it was a profitable way to make a living, so I started studying on my own time. My first public showing was in 1976.
I started with pencil drawing and then started painting in gouache, dabbled in water color, acrylics, and I now mainly work in oils.
My wife Jo and I travel around Montana and she takes photos for my subjects. My ideas for the Native American encampments came from attending Pow Wows in Browning and Heart Butte.
