Bonnie Griffin
Bonnie has loved horses and all animals all her life and grew up dedicated to horses. She has owned horses since the age of 4 and has worked all her life with horses, breaking, training, showing and rodeoing. She currently has a lot of fun working cattle with a little cow horse who is proving to be a winner in the show ring.
Another passion in her life has been art. She studied under NM artist, Ted Hogsett, for many years, concentrating on oils, pen and ink, with a focus on the cowboy way of life. After meeting NM cowboy sculptor, Wes Smith, she began to study western sculpture. With Wes’s help, she is now concentrating on western and wildlife bronzes. This aspect of art requires patience, focus, knowledge of anatomy and passion, most of which, she learned as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, specializing in clinical Microbiology, practicing for 38 years and teaching at the University of New Mexico Medical School for 25 years.
Bonnie is passionate about preserving the cowboy way of life by capturing moments in time. Her pieces show the daily life of the cowboy and memories taken from her experiences with horses.
