Sew Unique was a seed that was planted in me many years ago with my love and need for sewing. I just didn’t realize how long it took to really take root.

The impact of touring and studying at length the Tiffany Stained glass exhibit at the Morse Museum in Florida, fueled my intense fascination with this art. I was so attracted to the vibrant colors, the depth created by the strong contest in lights and darks, rand of the subject matter and the history of how this art found its way into people’s homes. 

Sew Unique has been my ongoing and expanding dream for over 23 years!

 I started to play with the idea  and challenge myself with patterns when I returned to Montana after living in Florida for 5 years.

Unable to afford a glass studio at the time, but with great encouragement from my supportive  husband, Russ, and my family. I began venturing into a well-known media to me… fabric!

My many Trail and errors spurred me on and kept me going as I like a challenge and I like to perfect it. Through practicing various techniques, finding improved higher end materials and refining my skills, I found “my canvas” for my ever-growing creativity.

My constant desire is to challenge myself by taking any idea of florals, landscapes, angels or wildlife and creating a pattern. Then the refining begins and my creating begins to really flow into my work until I have mastered the piece to my satisfaction. 

I am “newer to the art scene” compared to my fellow artists in different mediums.  I entered a national contest at JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts* in which I was awarded a National fourth place.  This fueled my fire to keep creating and finding other avenues to share my pieces.  
I then entered a piece of work into the Montana State Fair and I won the 2nd place for peoples Choice. This acknowledgement was a platform for me to have a my work at the Charlie Russell textile show and was repeatedly told this is “so unique”. This is how my business name came to be. The expressions on peoples face when I tell them that my artwork is not glass, but truly quality materials just validates the name choice for me.
